ARTISTIC STATEMENT

To dance is to cultivate the body into a vessel for creation. The energy, intent, and expressivity of contemporary movement allows for the dancer to invoke intense kinesthetic responses in the audience, and thus, relay deeper concepts and emotions through movement. My fascination with the human past, present, and future inspires my interest in contemporary movement styles, and acts as my anchor for innovation in choreographic creation. My primary goal in choreography is to create environments that transport the audience to another realm, that take them on a visceral journey that offers insights into the human experience. The aim of my movement is to marry the intellectual with the embodied, to utilize concepts from anthropology in my dancing to communicate vitality and life as a culturally aware member of society.
